It has been such a long week with not much getting done so it is always with great happiness when the Amazon Gods are so gracious to give unto me a package or three lol!
I think I am happiest when I get new books or a cologne I have been eager to try for awhile. Maybe I should throw in new clothes to boot since looking dapper is always a nice thing as well haha.
The week ended with me getting in the mail a book called The Other Side (Dedalus European Classics) by Alfred Kubin which you can check out at the link. What is interesting about Alfred Kubin is that he was involved with the Symbolist and Expressionist Movements. He was also the brother in law to Oscar AH Schmitz and also did the illustrations for his book Hashish. The Other Side was his only work of fiction he wrote so I am looking forward to reading it. It also has a number of his drawings in it too. They are not the most impressive works but they surely work with the atmosphere of the books he illustrates.
Another book I have started reading is The Dedalus Book of Decadence Moral Ruins (Decadence from Dedalus) edited by Brian Stableford. The link goes to the Kindle edition but you can find a hard copy on the marketplace.
I am entranced with this work so far. Really good introduction and the selections have been very thought provoking. Looking forward to reviewing this in the future.
Well, that is everything up to date so far. Hope everybody is enjoying their days and go read some books, it is good for you!
Last year I spend big chunks of my time studying expressionism in art and writing both, mostly art and got obsess with Marriane von werefkin’s work. The trial is still stuck in my throat. This post reminded me of that.

Never heard of that person I will have to look into it. I have yet to truly explore expressionism yet. I am still stuck playing in the decadent and symbolism movements at the moment lol
