Art by Gustav Dore
Long have I waited for the end of days.
Not just merely my own, but Mans’.
For to long we have built displays
of our might, raised mountains
enshrining God and ourselves.
There was a time when we could see
into other worlds, knowing that God
called us to a separate life, but we
have moved so far away, trod
the path most taken, like animals.
As we “evolve” it would seem to me
that we “devolve” in equal measure.
The more advanced we become
the less in touch with our nature,
God’s will, we are.
