The solemnity of this day

has left the minds of those

who have not experienced

the tragedies perpetrated

against the people.

Our minds are full of

the latest episodes of

favorite TV shows

rather than on the world

and its suffering masses.

God is not remembered,

loss is forgotten,

sacrifice has been ignored.

If we don’t right our ship,

stand tall and proud,

righteous in our morality,

just in our causes,

we will cease to matter

and fade into the dustbin

of history.
